Course Introduction – 10 minutes

  1. Instructor Introduction.
  2. Explain that certificates will be emailed after the class.
  3. Go over the three disclaimers: Laws and agency standard operating procedures may be more restrictive. Blue to Gold teaches the federal standard unless otherwise stated. Therefore, students must know their state and local requirements in addition to the federal standard.
  4. If you have any doubts, push it up the chain.

I’m going to teach you various tools to help non-escalate and de-escalate situations. But remember, not all situations can be de-escalated.

Another great set of classes. We are mandated to take de-escalation and duty to intervene classes here, but BtG made a very dry subject into one that was not only palatable but enjoyable! John Wiehn was an excellent instructor and an expert on the subject matter. Plenty of good videos and cop anecdotes kept things engaging as well. 10/10 would go to any BtG training if they are as good as these two classes.
