Chance McClish is a Nevada native who honorably retired as a Police Officer II with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2022. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada at Reno and a Nevada P.O.S.T. Category I Advanced Certificate. During his nearly 23-year career with the LVMPD he has held many operational and training positions to include Field Training Officer, Academy Staff, as a department training officer within the Organizational Development Bureau and served as a member with both the Crisis Intervention Team and the Multi-Agency Counter-Terrorism Assault Capability Task Force.
For over a decade, Chance served as primary Fourth Amendment law instructor at the LVMPD Police Academy, authoring both the Use of Force and Search and Seizure curriculums, and earning a reputation for being a knowledgeable and passionate teacher. Â Beyond his normal duties, he served as a federal Rule 30(b)(6) witness and sat on the LVMPD Search and Seizure and Use of Force committees where he was routinely tasked with the creation and delivery of instruction for his department.
As a senior member of LVMPD’s Organization Development Bureau, Chance also held numerous instructor roles, teaching in areas such as Close Quarter Engagements, NHTSA DUI Detection and SFSTs, Advanced Officer Skills, Tactical Emergency Casualty Care, MACTAC, ECD/Taser®, and is an Advanced Defensive Tactics Instructor.  He has also received numerous awards and commendations for his work, including the Medal of Honor, a Life Saving Award, the 1 October Service Award, four Exemplary Service Awards, and is a 2021 LVMPD Foundation Best of the Badge inductee.
